A Few Thoughts More: The Force Awakens
This piece contains spoilers for THE FORCE AWAKENS, but if you care and haven’t seen it yet then where have you been? There’s also a reference to the twist in IRON MAN 3, just FYI. I’ve seen the seventh STAR … Continue reading
Review: High-Rise (2015/16)
Like all of Brit Wunderkind Ben Wheatley’s films, HIGH RISE is a fascinating concoction. Bold in tone and extremely stylish, it also ends up being his most inconsistent work to date. In a dystopian 1975, Dr Robert Laing (Tom Hiddleston) … Continue reading
Review: The Survivalist (2015/16)
Who needs an expository text dump to establish your film’s world? The state of the future in THE SURVIVALIST is illustrated as simply as it could possibly be with two coloured lines representing oil production and the human population steadily … Continue reading
Review: The Martian (2015)
Almost Ridders, almost. This is undoubtedly the best thing Ridley Scott has produced in over a decade. For me though, THE MARTIAN doesn’t quite justify the plaudits it has received, but yeah it’s good. That’s pretty much it. You want … Continue reading

“A year ago I had a fantastic version of this. And it would have received great reviews. You’ll probably never see it. That’s reality though.” – Josh Trank, 6 August 2015 The above was posted by FANTASTIC FOUR director Josh … Continue reading
Review: Terminator Genisys (2015)
Arnie is back as the Terminator with a resounding clunk. While TERMINATOR GENISYS isn’t quite the mirthless Hunter-Killer crash TERMINATOR SALVATION was, it hasn’t earned the right to be mentioned in the same breath as any of the first three … Continue reading
If The Force Awakens really is that good, what then?
It’s an equally enticing and scary prospect for STAR WARS fans, the thought that if THE FORCE AWAKENS really does deliver on all it promises, then THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK will no longer be the quintessential trip to a Galaxy … Continue reading →
